Have you ever found yourself puzzled by your feline friend's mysterious antics? Cats are enigmatic creatures, and their behaviors often leave us scratching our heads. In this blog post, we embark on a journey to unravel the secrets behind common cat mysteries, providing insights that will deepen your understanding of your furry companion.
Cats purr for a variety of reasons, and it's a fascinating aspect of feline behavior. While the exact mechanisms behind purring aren't fully understood, it's commonly associated with contentment and relaxation. Cats often purr when they are being petted, cuddled, or are in a comfortable and secure environment.
However, it's not just about happiness. Cats may also purr when they're in pain or distress as a self-soothing mechanism.
Additionally, mother cats purr to communicate with their kittens, serving as a form of bonding and reassurance.
Cats knead as a natural behavior that originates from kittenhood. This rhythmic paw motion, similar to kneading dough, is an instinctive behavior kittens use while nursing to stimulate milk flow and bond with their mother.
Kneading is often a sign of contentment and relaxation in cats, bringing them a sense of comfort and security. Cats may knead soft surfaces, including their owners, blankets, or furniture.
Additionally, kneading serves as a way for cats to mark their territory through scent glands in their paws.
If your cat transforms into a night prowler, disrupting your sleep, you're not alone. Cats are notorious for their nighttime shenanigans due to their crepuscular nature.
During the night, a cat's enhanced senses come into play, encouraging playful or mischievous behavior. Cats, being skilled hunters, find the dark appealing for activities like pouncing, chasing, and exploring.
Cats excel at playing hide and seek due to a combination of their natural instincts and physical attributes. Their keen sense of curiosity, desire to explore their environment, agile bodies, and exceptional night vision make them adept at finding hiding spots and evading detection.
The feline tendency to seek out confined spaces aligns with their instinct to observe and stalk prey, making hide and seek an engaging and mentally stimulating game.
Cats chatter for various reasons, often accompanying excitement or frustration. This behavior is thought to be an expression of their hunting instincts—a mix of anticipation and frustration when they can't physically capture prey. Some theories suggest that chattering is a way for cats to mimic the sounds of birds or small animals they are observing, perhaps as a strategy to lure them closer.
Cats' fascination with boxes can be attributed to a combination of instinctual behaviors and environmental preferences. In the wild, cats are ambush predators, and enclosed spaces provide them with a sense of security and a strategic vantage point for stalking prey.
Boxes create a safe and sheltered environment that taps into these natural instincts. The texture and material of boxes also appeal to cats' sensory preferences, with cardboard providing a satisfying surface for scratching and biting.
A cat's tail serves as a multifaceted tool for communication and balance, playing a crucial role in feline behavior. The tail acts as a barometer of a cat's emotions, with different positions indicating excitement, anticipation, fear, or aggression.
In terms of balance, a cat's tail acts as a counterbalance during various activities such as jumping or walking on narrow surfaces, helping them maintain stability and navigate their surroundings with precision.
By the end of this blog post, you'll be equipped with the knowledge to navigate the enigmatic world of cat behaviors. Embrace the mysteries, deepen your bond with your furry companion, and become fluent in the language of feline expressions. Get ready to unlock the secrets behind those whiskered wonders!

Regular vet visits serve as preventive measures, allowing veterinarians to identify potential health issues before they become major concerns. Early detection means timely intervention, increasing the chances of successful treatment.
Consulting with a veterinarian is crucial in developing a tailored nutrition plan for your pet. A personalized approach to their diet addresses their specific needs, promoting overall health, longevity, and a happy, thriving companion - ensuring your furry friend receives the nutrients essential for their specific breed, age, and health condition.
Vaccines are crucial for dogs to protect them from preventable and potentially deadly diseases. They stimulate the immune system to recognize and fight specific pathogens, preventing infection and the spread of diseases.
To promote good dental health in your pet, it's essential to establish a regular dental care routine, including brushing their teeth, providing dental treats or toys, and scheduling professional dental cleanings as recommended by your veterinarian. Taking proactive steps toward dental care contributes to your pet's overall health and happiness.
Pets can't communicate in words, but their behaviors speak volumes. Vets are trained to observe and interpret behavioral cues that might indicate underlying health issues. Addressing these concerns early can contribute to a happy and harmonious home.
Regular veterinary visits are essential for senior pets to ensure early detection, preventive care, and overall well-being. These visits provide an opportunity for proactive healthcare, helping your senior pet live a longer, healthier, and more comfortable life.
Senior pets are more prone to certain health conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, kidney disease, and cancer. Regular veterinary check-ups allow for the early detection of these issues, often before they become more severe and challenging to treat.
In the journey of pet parenthood, prioritizing regular vet checkups is a commitment to the well-being and longevity of our beloved companions. By staying proactive and vigilant, we can provide our pets with the happiest and healthiest lives possible.
Remember, a trip to the vet is not just about illness—it's about investing in a future filled with tail wags, purrs, and boundless joy.

]]>Hey, big dog lovers!
Today, we're diving into the fun (and sometimes challenging) world of training large dogs. If you have a dog that’s more ‘horse’ than ‘hound’, you know the drill. One minute you're training them, the next minute you're being towed like a sled in the Iditarod.
Training a big pupper is like steering a cruise ship - start early, or you might end up in the Bermuda Triangle of dog training. Begin with basic commands like sit, stay, and the ever-important, 'please don’t drag me down the street.'
Imagine if every time you opened the fridge, it played a different genre of music. Confusing, right? That’s how our gentle giants feel when training isn't consistent. Stick to the same commands and rules, and soon you'll have a well-behaved Goliath on your hands.
Ever tried to train a dog that's bursting with energy? It’s like trying to teach a tornado to waltz. A good run or play session before training can be a game changer. Plus, it’s a great workout for you too – who needs a gym?
Training a big dog doesn’t require a big stick, but it definitely requires a big bag of treats. Positive reinforcement works wonders. Remember, every ‘good boy’ or ‘good girl’ is a step towards a well-mannered pet.
Big dogs need friends too! Socializing your dog helps them learn how to behave around other dogs and humans. Just make sure the other party is okay with your fur baby, who’s basically a fluffy version of The Hulk.
Sometimes, training a big dog can feel like teaching a whale to do ballet. It takes time, patience, and a sense of humor. Remember, every small step is a paw in the right direction.
Sometimes, we need to call in the big guns. Don’t be afraid to seek professional help. Dog trainers can provide that extra guidance and support, turning your chaotic Clifford into a gentle giant.
Training a large dog is an adventure filled with laughter, love, and the occasional ‘oops’ moments. Embrace the journey, and before you know it, your big dog will be the well-trained gentle giant of your dreams. And remember, at the end of the day, they might be big, but they’re just lovable goofballs at heart.
Pro-tip: Em & Me Studio offers larger dog tags now for our big friends! Check out the Clifford Collection to make your big pet stand out!
Happy Training!
]]>Fall brings lower temperatures. You can hike a little bit further than you would in hotter weather because your dog won’t likely overheat. There are less people using the trails, giving you more space to be alone, and there are hardly any flies or mosquitoes to bother you.
Hiking is not only a wonderful kind of exercise for you and your dog, but it’s also a fantastic chance to spend quality time with your pet while taking in the beauty of nature. However, it’s crucial to always think about your pet’s safety. Like people, dogs get tired easily and are susceptible to heat stroke, particularly on humid days. Pets may be at danger from trail dangers like steep, uneven terrain and violent wildlife.
The following five suggestions should be kept in mind before beginning your next hiking expedition:
Don’t bring pets that aren’t suitable for trekking, and use good judgment when doing so. Not every dog makes an excellent hiking partner when you take into account elements like breed, size, personality, and age. It is not recommended for dogs who cannot manage strenuous activity to go hiking. Some animals may find it difficult and hazardous to travel steep or uneven terrain.
Train your dog well in advance if you want him to carry some of the hiking gear. Begin by carrying smaller loads and going on short walks before progressing to carrying greater loads. Dogs in excellent physical condition should be able to carry up to 20% of their body weight. Make sure your dog is in good enough physical condition to go on a trek and carry a pack by seeing your veterinarian.
Before starting a hike, you should always make sure that dogs are allowed on the trail. The majority of national and state parks do not accept dogs, so you should be aware of that. When planning your hike, check online or get in touch with the managing organization to find out if their trails are dog-friendly. Dogs should always be kept on a leash for their protection, even if it isn’t required by law.
Appreciate other hikers and their pets when out on the route, and stay on the paths that have been marked. Don’t allow your dog go off; keep an eye on him at all times. Having your dog by your side will help you avoid accidents because of wild animals, dangerous plants, and snakes.
Offer your dog water and snacks occasionally when you stop frequently along the walk. Dogs can experience heatstroke on hot days, so keep that in mind. In order to prevent them from getting sick, avoid feeding your dog shortly before or right after trekking. Feed them 30 minutes after or at least one hour before a hike.
Keeping dogs secure around water sources is particularly crucial. If there are harmful parasites or algae in the water, don’t let your dog swim in it or drink from it. This could make him sick. Bring plenty of bottled water or a portable water filter if you plan to trek in a rural area without access to safe, clean water.
By cleaning up after your dog on hiking paths, you are showing respect for the environment and your fellow hikers. Use pet waste bags, dispose of them in trash cans, or dig a hole deep enough to safely bury pet waste at least 200 feet from paths, water sources, and camping areas. Although some hiking routes offer compostable dog waste bags, it could be simpler and more practical to get them in advance from a pet supply store or snag one of our poop bag holders and get a free roll of bags with it.
While preparing for your trip might not be your top priority, it is always best to have more than less when it comes to your dog’s hiking equipment.
The following is a list of gear you should bring on your trip:
A memorable bonding activity for the two of you can be hiking with your dog. If you know how to keep your dog safe and under control, they can make the perfect hiking companion.
Hiking is a truly satisfying experience that creates enduring memories and a special bond. Have fun hiking friends and happy trails to you!

]]>Socialization involves exposing your puppy to different people, animals, places, and situations during their early developmental stages. This exposure helps them build positive associations and develop the ability to navigate the world with confidence. Proper socialization reduces the risk of fear-based behaviors and anxiety in adulthood.
Puppies are most receptive to socialization between the ages of 3 and 16 weeks. This period, known as the critical window, is when their brains are highly malleable and open to forming lasting impressions. Positive experiences during this time lay the foundation for a well-adjusted and sociable adult dog.
Expose your puppy to a variety of people, including children, adults, and individuals of diverse appearances and backgrounds. Encourage gentle interactions to build trust and prevent fearfulness. Introduce them to other friendly dogs in controlled settings to foster healthy social interactions.
Explore different environments such as parks, beaches, urban areas, and even quiet country spaces. Gradually expose your puppy to different sounds, sights, and smells, ensuring they feel comfortable and secure. Positive associations with new places enhance their adaptability in various situations.
Teach your puppy to tolerate handling, grooming, and basic care routines. Regular brushing, nail trimming, and ear cleaning become stress-free experiences when introduced positively and gradually. This prepares them for vet visits and prevents fear of necessary procedures.
During socialization experiences, use positive reinforcement through treats, praise, and rewards. This helps your puppy associate new experiences with positive outcomes, reinforcing their confidence and sociability.
While exposure is crucial, be mindful not to overwhelm your puppy. Gradually increase the complexity of experiences and environments, ensuring they feel safe and secure throughout the process.
Socialization is an investment in your puppy's future well-being. By introducing them to a wide array of experiences during their critical window, you're helping them develop the confidence and sociability needed to thrive as adults. Embrace the journey of socialization, be patient, and celebrate each small step towards creating a confident and friendly furry companion who's ready to face the world with a wagging tail and a happy heart.

]]>Puppies have small bladders and a limited ability to hold their eliminations. Understanding their physical limitations is essential to effectively house train them. On average, puppies can hold their bladder for about one hour for each month of age. For example, a three-month-old puppy should be taken outside every three hours. Keep in mind that this is a general guideline, and individual puppies may vary.
Consistency is key when it comes to house training. Create a regular schedule for feeding, potty breaks, and playtime. Taking your puppy out first thing in the morning, after meals, and before bedtime helps prevent accidents and reinforces the routine. Consistency helps your puppy learn where and when they should eliminate.
When your puppy eliminates in the appropriate spot, be sure to offer praise and treats. Positive reinforcement creates a positive association with potty time and encourages them to repeat the behavior. On the other hand, avoid scolding or punishment for accidents, as this can create anxiety and hinder the learning process.
Crate training can be a valuable aid in house training. Dogs have a natural instinct to keep their sleeping area clean, making a crate a useful tool to prevent accidents indoors. Make sure the crate is appropriately sized – large enough for your pup to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably – but not so large that they can eliminate in one corner and sleep in another.
Accidents are a normal part of house training, especially in the beginning. When accidents happen, remain calm and avoid scolding your puppy. Clean up the mess with an enzymatic cleaner to eliminate the scent and discourage repeat accidents in the same spot. Accidents are opportunities for learning, so adjust your routine if accidents become frequent.
House training your puppy is an essential step in building a solid foundation for their behavior. Through understanding their needs, establishing a consistent routine, using positive reinforcement, and considering crate training, you can guide your puppy toward success. Remember that patience and positivity are your greatest allies during this process. As your puppy learns the ropes, your home will become a welcoming and comfortable environment where they can thrive, grow, and enjoy a harmonious relationship with you and your family.

1. Enhanced Visibility and Immediate Identification:
While microchips provide a reliable form of identification, they require a scanning device to retrieve the information. Dog tags, on the other hand, offer instant visibility and identification. Imagine a scenario where your dog gets lost or is found by a Good Samaritan. A clear and legible dog tag with your contact information displayed prominently can expedite their safe return home.
2. Easy Contact Information:
Dog tags provide a quick and convenient way for anyone who finds your dog to contact you directly. By including your phone number, address, or other relevant details on the tag, you increase the likelihood of a swift reunion with your four-legged friend. This simple step can make all the difference during a potentially stressful and emotional situation.
3. Avoiding Potential Delays or Technical Difficulties:
While microchips are a valuable form of permanent identification, their effectiveness relies on external factors. Scanners may not always be readily available, or they may malfunction. Additionally, the person who finds your dog may not have access to a scanner or be aware of the microchip's presence. In these situations, a dog tag serves as a fail-safe method to provide immediate identification and contact information.
4. Clear Indication of Vaccination Status and Medical Conditions:
Dog tags can serve as a means to communicate vital information about your pet's health. By including your dog's vaccination status or any medical conditions they may have, you alert others to specific needs or potential risks. This proactive approach helps ensure the well-being of your dog in case of an emergency or if they require immediate medical attention.
5. Fashionable and Non-Threatening:
Dog tags can also be a fashionable accessory for your pet, showcasing their individual style and personality. Additionally, a dog wearing a visible tag is often perceived as a non-threatening and approachable dog. It signals to others that your dog has a loving home and encourages positive interactions, leading to potential compliments and admiration for your furry friend.
While microchipping is an important aspect of pet identification, dog tags should not be overlooked or dismissed. They offer immediate visibility, clear identification, and a convenient way for others to contact you should your dog become lost. The combination of microchipping and dog tags provides the most comprehensive approach to safeguarding your furry companion. Remember, prevention is key, and dog tags play a crucial role in ensuring your dog's safety and facilitating their prompt return. Invest in a quality dog tag and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your dog is well-protected.

Check your soil: Before the new year begins, take a moment to assess the quality of your soil. If your soil is overly dry or compacted, consider adding compost or other organic matter to improve its structure. You should also check the pH level of your soil and adjust it as necessary to ensure that your plants have the right conditions to grow.
Protect your plants from the cold: If you live in a climate with cold winters, it's important to take steps to protect your plants from the freezing temperatures. Consider covering your plants with blankets or burlap, or bring them inside to a greenhouse or sunroom. This will help ensure that your plants survive the winter and are ready to thrive in the new year.
Start planning for the new year: As you prepare for the new year, take some time to think about what you want to plant in your garden. Consider your climate, the amount of sunlight your garden receives, and the type of soil you have. This will help you choose plants that are well-suited to your specific growing conditions and will be more likely to thrive in the new year.
By following these tips, you can help your plants start the new year off on the right foot. Happy gardening!
]]>Make sure your puppy gets enough exercise: One of the most important things you can do for your new puppy is to make sure they get enough exercise. Not only is regular exercise important for your puppy's physical health, it's also crucial for their mental well-being. Consider setting a resolution to take your puppy for daily walks or to sign up for a puppy training class to ensure that they get the exercise they need.
Train your puppy consistently: Training your puppy is essential for their development and for maintaining a positive relationship with them. Make a resolution to be consistent with your training efforts and to use positive reinforcement techniques whenever possible. This will help your puppy learn new skills and behaviors and will strengthen the bond between you.
Keep your puppy healthy: A healthy puppy is a happy puppy! Make a resolution to keep your puppy up-to-date on all their vaccinations and to schedule regular visits to the vet. It's also important to feed your puppy a high-quality diet and to groom them regularly to keep them healthy and looking their best.
Spend quality time with your puppy: As you set your new year's resolutions, don't forget to prioritize your relationship with your puppy. Make a resolution to spend quality time with your puppy on a regular basis, whether it's playing, training, or simply cuddling on the couch. This will help strengthen your bond and will ensure that your puppy is happy and well-adjusted.
By setting resolutions for your new puppy, you can ensure that they get the best possible start in life and that you have a happy and fulfilling relationship with them. Here's to a great new year for both you and your furry friend!
]]>As you prepare to celebrate the new year with your new puppy, it's important to keep their needs in mind. Here are a few tips to ensure that both you and your puppy have a fun and safe new year's celebration:
Plan a quiet celebration: New year's celebrations can be loud and chaotic, which can be overwhelming for a new puppy. Instead of hosting a big party, consider spending the evening at home with just a few close friends or family members. This will allow your puppy to get used to their new surroundings without being overwhelmed by a lot of noise and activity.
Keep an eye on your puppy: If you do decide to celebrate the new year at home, make sure to keep a close eye on your puppy. This is especially important if they are still getting used to potty training. Consider crate training your puppy to keep them safe and secure while you're busy celebrating.
Provide plenty of water: It's important to keep your puppy hydrated, especially if they will be spending the evening inside with you. Make sure to provide plenty of water and consider investing in a dog water fountain to encourage your puppy to drink.
Keep your puppy away from hazardous items: As you decorate and celebrate, be sure to keep your puppy away from any hazardous items like candles, fireworks, and alcohol. These items can be dangerous for your puppy, so it's best to keep them out of reach.
Get your puppy a special treat: It's the new year, and what better way to celebrate than with a special treat for your furry friend? Consider buying your puppy a new toy or a special type of dog food to celebrate the occasion.
Overall, the key to celebrating the new year with your new puppy is to keep their needs in mind and to be mindful of any potential hazards. By following these tips, you and your puppy can have a fun and safe new year's celebration together. Happy new year!

]]>You've finally invited your friends over for a Dinner Party. You want to make sure it goes well, and that you entertain them with everything they could hope for in an evening. It is important to plan ahead so that the Dinner Party will be successful!
Dinner party invitations should be sent out a few weeks ahead of time. This is where you can decide on a theme for the evening or if it's going to be a potluck. If that is the case you can send each person their own invitation with their assigned dish noted on the back (e.g., 'Please bring your favorite appetizer or salad'). This helps to eliminate food overlap and frees up guests' time for grocery shopping. Make sure to provide a date, time, location, and dress code on the invitations so there is no confusion. This can also help you gauge how many people will attend because guests sometimes have other plans or want to see their friends' Dinner Parties as well.
The Dinner Party should be on your home turf. Dinner Parties provide the perfect opportunity for people who do not know each other very well or would otherwise never have met in different circumstances to come together and get acquainted over food and drinks. Your dinner party should take place in a room that is large enough to accommodate all the guests. It is also important to have enough seats for everyone, so if you are expecting more than six people you may want to consider setting up two tables and chairs rather than one long table with only five seats available. Make sure there's plenty of space for guests to sit down and get comfortable without bumping into the table or finding themselves in a position where someone can't see what they're eating or that they feel trapped in that one seat all night.
Dinner Parties should be casual and comfortable. There's no need to go all out with the fancy tablecloth and candles - just make sure there is enough room for everyone, as well as a place for people to bring their plates back once they're done eating. There is no need to bring out your finest china from the cabinet the best dinner parties are informal and relaxed. You do not want to put your guest on edge by having them use your very expensive dishes.
The dinner party can start at any time of day you like just give your guest enough time to arrive. Dinner Parties can last for a few hours or all day long. Dinner should be served at the latest three in the afternoon, but you're free to make it as early and late as you want! The dinner party should take place at an appropriate time, especially if you are hosting it for people who have not seen much of each other since school days. Dinner Parties provide the perfect opportunity for catching up on old times. Dinner Parties are a great way to form be friendships if you don't get the chance as often because of work or family commitments.
Choosing the right food for your dinner party can be stressful. If no ideas come to mind or you cannot think of a cohesive meal, dinner parties are a great excuse to serve all of your favorite dishes. You have your dinner theme right there "The Hosts Favorites". Dinner parties are also a great excuse to serve dishes you may not make as often, like deserts or appetizers. This could also be a great opportunity to try new recipes you have bookmarked for months but never had a reason to try them. Your dinner party can also offer an opportunity for experimenting. This is a great excuse to get creative and do something unexpected like serving red wine with steak or margaritas with seafood.
Let's not forget drinks! You can make a signature drink for your guests. This can be a cool element to bring together your theme. Matching the food and drink can be challenging. Dinner parties are a great time to try wines you may not normally have as much or make cocktails that use ingredients you don't usually keep stocked in your kitchen. Whatever drink you choose to serve make sure you have extras. It is your job as the host to make sure your guest's cup is never empty.
Music can be an important aspect of Dinner Parties. You want music that is light-hearted and upbeat, but not too loud so everyone has a fun conversation during the party! Dinner Party music should have enough similarities for guests who share tastes in order to keep them entertained. Dinner Party music should also be low enough in volume so as not to interfere with what the guests are talking about. There are many preloaded playlists on streaming services that will fit the vibe of your dinner party. If you prefer not to stream the music you can pull out your favorites albums and enjoy those with your guests.
You must also make sure that you incorporated the "you touch it, you take it" rule if you serve the food buffet style! Have everyone use their own utensil when the initial serve happens but make sure to supply more to your guests if they plan on going for seconds. You may also need a way to decipher who's drinks are who's. This is where stir sticks could come in handy as most have different designs. This will also elevate the decor of your party as it is fancier than the old sharpie on a solo cup.
With these helpful tips, your Dinner Party is going to be a great success! All of the guests are going to be entertained with dinner party music and delicious food and drinks. There is always something new to learn about Dinner Parties, so make sure you read up on it before your next one!
]]>We know a cocktail garnish is a small detail, but it's the little things that count! Garnish can make or break your cocktail. I know that sentence seems dramatic, but it is true! With so many choices of a cocktail garnish to choose from, how do you pick what type is best for you?
You may be thinking, when am I ever gonna use garnishes? Well, a cocktail party is a perfect time to impress guests with your creativity and flair for garnishes. Find out what flavors go best with which alcohol, cocktail, or mixers at home! Your guests will think you spent a long time on these well-thought-out cocktails. They will be the talk of the night and for nights to come.
It's important to remember that a cocktail garnish is not just an aesthetic choice - it can affect the flavor of your drink as well! Even though adding a lime wedge to everything looks cute, it will potentially ruin your cocktail. In cocktail bars, the cocktail garnish is often selected for specific flavors that complement or contrast with other ingredients. For example, a cocktail may be served with an orange peel to balance out bitterness from dark spirits added in the preparation process. The garnish can also help tie together different flavor profiles and textures throughout the drink. This is why not every cocktail comes with a garnish, as they need to create a cohesive flavor story.
A cocktail garnish can also affect the drink’s texture. For a cocktail that is served with ice, adding an herb, for example, will help release flavor when you chew on it. One way to get this effect without using herbs is to add fruit slices or chunks (such as citrus) instead of using diced fruit which can easily fall apart inside the drink which can cause an unpleasant texture. Most cocktails are meant to be smooth when drunk, so make sure your choice of garnish does not hinder the experience of the cocktail.
Garnishes can also be used to signify the cocktail's identity. A cocktail garnish is a symbol and reminder of your experience at that establishment; it serves as an invitation for others who want to enjoy similar cocktails in the future. For example, cherries on top of a Manhattan cocktail may denote its infusion with dry vermouth or maraschino liqueur. Brands such as Cin-Sational Cherry Company also make cocktail garnishes that provide guests with a high-quality cocktail experience you can feel confident in serving to your family and friends.
Keep in mind that some garnishes are not meant to be eaten but rather a component of the cocktail itself. So be weary in which garnishes you choose to eat. The same could be said on the opposite side, and you can eat some garnishes such as the tropical fruits used in most rum-based cocktails but munching on a piece of mint does not sound as appetizing as a slice of pineapple.
Now that we got the basics of a cocktail garnish out of the way let's look into some cocktail ideas and recipes to make at home or your next party. Do not forget to add the garnishes to these cocktails because you deserve to drink classy. Here are a few of our favorite cocktails and their respective garnishes.
The garnish is orange slices and cherries. This cocktail is made with whiskey, bitters, water, or sugar for sweetness to taste and a splash of soda or club soda (optional). The orange slices are placed on the inside edge of the glass as it's being mixed to provide an aromatic citrus flavor that matches the cocktail's sweet taste. Finally, a cherry is placed on top of the drink to provide garnish and add color to this cocktail.
Mint leaves and lime wedges for garnish. Mojitos are made with white rum or silver tequila, sugar (or honey), freshly squeezed lime juice,
Which is tequila-based, is best served with salt on the rim of your glass. If you prefer something with some more spice, try a jalapeno margarita with the garnish of sliced jalapeno peppers.
Try adding stuffed olive's and green olives to garnish the outside and inside of the glass.
Will be complete with cocktail onions or celery placed around the rim of your glass.
With a mixed base of vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice goes best with a lime wedge garnish to accentuate the lime juice flavor.
Like a Pina Colada, Mai Tai, and daiquiri mixers tend to be garnished with tropical fruit.
Which is a dark rum-based cocktail infused with a mixture of fruit juices and grenadine. It is garnished with an orange slice and cherry.
There is an abundance of different types of cocktails, but we just listed a few. They complete the cocktail experience and can even be used to tell someone what type of cocktail you're drinking if they walk past your table with their eyes closed or want something that is non-alcoholic but has the same flavors as an alcoholic cocktail. So next time you find yourself with leftover limes or orange slices, think about what cocktail you can whip up to use it with. Then, please sit back, enjoy, and make sure to save one for us!
]]>It's your pup's birthday, and you don't know what to do! Don't worry; we have you covered; all you have to do is throw a puppy birthday party! Puppies love birthdays just as much as people do. Puppies have feelings, too, so make sure that they're happy on their big day. You can celebrate Puppy's birthday in a variety of ways, from cake and ice cream to an exciting game of "fetch."
First, we need the guest list! It is not a puppy birthday party without their closest pupper friends. Write the list down and start getting the invitations ready so they have adequate time for their humans to RSVP. Once you have the rough headcount, you can move on to the specifics related to quantities of food and other items to make your life easier.
The décor is the next essential step to having a great puppy birthday party! You need to make sure your pup knows this party is for them. Also, is there going to be a theme? Some popular themes include "party animal," "let's pawty," and the notorious dog bone theme. You can get streamers, plate settings that can go on the floor or around a lower-level table. Puppy cake? Bone-shaped balloons? Anything that will make your pup feel special on their birthday and during their puppy birthday party. You can't forget the photo op station either because what's a puppy birthday party without the cute pictures!
To go with the decor, you also need to get your puppy a new birthday outfit to match. This can be a new collar or bandana, or even a harness. If they let you, they also make birthday shirts for your pup to wear. You have to make sure the birthday pup feels like a million bucks. Finally, let's not forget the doggy-sized birthday hats for the birthday pup and all their fur-friends. Make sure to get a picture of this too!
Let's move onto the food your pup and their fur-friends are going to munch on. There are many kinds of food that puppies generally enjoy, but some favorites among them include steak or hamburger meat, hot dogs or sausage, and anything that contains bacon! Puppies also enjoy things like scrambled eggs with cheese on top, yogurt with fruit spread in it, macaroni and cheese (if you can make a small dish for your pup and guests), ice cream sprinkled with dog biscuits, pizza... etc. The list goes on, but I am sure you already know your pup's favorite human foods. Some dogs also have dietary restrictions so be thoughtful when choosing your party's dishes and options.
Now, what's a Puppy Birthday Party without some tasty treats? Be careful when saying the "T" word in front of the guests; you do not want to cause an uproar! Next, make a puppy a cake or you can get mini cupcakes in paw-print wrappers. Puppies love licking frosting off of their paws after they're done eating it. Puppies also love to lick frosting off of people's faces, so don't be alarmed if a puppy starts licking your cheeks. Either way, I'm sure this is going to make for a great memory and, if you're lucky, a picture too. You can put cheese on the cake for the dogs to enjoy as well! Simply take a block of cheddar or Colby and grate it up into tiny pieces that he/she will be able to eat more easily; this is not a necessary addition just if you wish to add a little ~spice~ to the puppy birthday cake.
Don't forget about the gifts! It would be best if you showered your puppy with presents. Puppies love to get new toys, so why not buy them a toy or two or the entire toy aisle? Your puppy will be more than happy with this thoughtful present. If you cannot think of anything or forget to go to the store, there are always coupons for unlimited belly scratches and boops. Puppies love boops, especially birthday boops!
Finally, you need to plan the games. Puppies love an opportunity for some good old-fashioned fun, so we have come up with three games that will keep them occupied all night long. They are sure to get excited when they see their favorite toy in game number one - Puppy's Very Own Party Toss, which in other words, is the ultimate game of fetch since they will be going against all their friends. This will get all the pups involved and have them work off all the grub they just ate. Our second game is Puppies' Playground Obstacle Course. Puppies are very agile and love to run, so this will be a great opportunity for them to show off their skills as they make it through the hurdles we set up with treats on the other side of each one. The final game is Puppies on Parade! This game consists of filling up a room with balloons (don't worry about popping them all) and then letting the puppies loose. They will have so much fun hunting for those little colorful floating orbs of joy; they might not want to come home!
To wrap up your puppy birthday party, hand out doggy bags (no pun intended) for all the guests to take home. You can put party favors like a tennis ball or a small squeak toy in the bag, along with a couple of treats. This will ensure that every pup leave's with a smile on their face. It'll also keep the party going once everyone has let but this time in their own homes! Your puppy's birthday is a special day that you and all your friends and fur-friends can enjoy. Hopefully, you can make your pupper feel like royalty during their annual puppy birthday party. We want to see your puppy parties; make sure to tag us so we can be a part of the party too.
]]>Many dog owners have a difficult time finding the best dog collar and leash. This can be especially true if you are buying your first set of items, and don't know what to look for. There are a limitless amount of options so where should you start? There is no right or wrong answer but we might be able to steer you in the right direction. In this blog post, we will go over some of the variables to consider when buying a leash or collar for your pup.
What breed your dog is and its current and potential size can limit your options. Smaller dogs might have a difficult time with standard leashes and collars, so you may need to find something more suited for their size. If they are 20 pounds or less, you need a leash that's less than six feet or on the lighter side. For larger dogs, this doesn't apply as they can handle the pressure and weight of a standard-length leash just fine. Some leashes are more suited for large breeds with strong tugging tendencies, while others may be better if your pup is gentle but still needs the support.
Some leashes and collars are made for different coat types and textures which can be beneficial if your pup has long hair or a sensitive skin type. Fur can also get caught in leashes and collars, so choosing one that has a fur-friendly design will save you both time and stress. For example, many short hair breeds require a shorter leash that won't get caught in their fur and cause them discomfort. Some long-haired breeds might need something with smoother fabric for the same reason; it can be challenging to find leashes made out of fur-friendly material so this may call for some trial-and-error tests on your dog collar and leash.
Some leashes require the dog to be trained before using them, meaning that if your pup is still in training it is not going to be able to use an advanced leash or collar until they are up to that level. Some options may also aid in the training process such as a no-pull collar leash duo. The level your pup is at can limit the options or features you are looking for in a dog collar and leash.
A dog collar and leash that does not on properly can be a safety risk to your pup. Make sure you check the fit before buying and make sure it is snug but not too tight or loose. A good rule of thumb when sizing your dog's collar is to measure around the dog's neck and add one inch. Collars should not be tight on your pup while they are still growing but as a general rule there is no need for an extra collar to help with growth, just adjust the size of their current one.
Some dog collar and leash options leave little wiggle room for your pup. If you have a pup that likes to roam or one with joint problems, it might be worth going for an option with more flexibility. There are different lengths of a dog collar and leash that you can cater your decisions making to.
Depending on your pup's activity level you may need to opt for something more durable and easy maintenance that will hold up to your dog's active lifestyle. Your dog collar and leash need to be tough. They should not fray or break easily, especially if you have a pup that likes to explore on its own terms. This variable may cause you to limit or expand your initial material options for the dog collar and leash.
Leather, nylon, cotton, rope? There are many material options to consider when buying a dog collar and leash. Make sure you understand what each type of material offers as a benefit as well as its downsides. For example, leather has a natural antioxidant that is animal-based. This will help keep the dog collar and leash from being damaged by water and other elements outside of its control. Leather also tends not to hold on to odors so it's an easy solution for dogs with sensitive noses! The downsides of a leather collar would be its higher price point and the lack of breathability. You may want to research all of the possible materials before starting your search. This can narrow down all of the options at hand for your potential dog collar and leash.
If you are looking for a dog collar and leash set, or just one of the two. You can find options that will be perfect for your needs from training to walking on a leash all day long. This means that the amount in which the item will be used is a key variable in choosing the right option.
Some leashes and collars may be fit for more rural or urban areas. If you live in a more urban area you might try a standard one-length leash since there are smaller sidewalks and a smaller area to cover while a retractable leash may be better for you if you live in the country where your pup has more area to roam freely.
There are many different variables that go into choosing the right accessories, like a dog collar and leash. While these are just a few options, they pinpoint the key factors we look for in a dog collar and leash. When making your decisions, you should base it on you and your pup's lifestyle. It may seem like a trivial decision, but the collar and leash you pick for your dog can make or break their overall look. This is also their everyday wardrobe, so you will want something that represents your pup's personality accordingly.
